Taking CSR Seriously at IPS Paint Supplies

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is becoming ever more important with businesses of all sizes stepping up to the mark by implementing good practices to secure their reputation in the eyes of customers, stakeholders, employees and future applicants.  And IPS Paint Supplies is no exception.

Our management team believe that it is important that all employees, at all levels of the organisation, are aware of our CSR strategy and policies, such as lift-shares, rigorous recycling programmes and support for community and charity projects.  By communicating these initiatives to our staff, they in turn have a greater understanding of the long-term benefits of our approach to CSR.

Here are some examples of the CSR initiatives we have introduced and in which our employees play an important part.

Transport

At IPS Paint Supplies we run a fleet of vehicles operating from our Swansea and Cardiff branches which delivery products to our customers all over South Wales.  In order to reduce our carbon footprint, we are currently looking at making the gradual transition to electric vans over the coming years.

We also encourage car sharing, with some of our staff sharing lifts in our delivery vans.  And as we are based in Llansamlet, we encourage the cycle to work scheme for employees, as the location is well serviced with cycle paths.

Recycling and Waste Disposal

IPS Paint Supplies endeavours to be ethically responsible for the various packaging and general waste. As such, we have recycling facilities across our branches and widely encourage their use across the business.

We recycle all our empty paint tins, which are collected weekly by a specialist company. We also recycle waste paint and thinners which are collected annually by a specialist company called Pureclean.  This company, which is fully licensed, is also responsible for all of our waste disposal from both branches

All our staff are fully aware of their responsibilities in terms of recycling and waste disposal and the locations of where all products are to be stored.

Community Support

Whenever possible we involve employees when choosing the charities or community projects we support each year and we are open to any fund raising ideas that employees may have. We actively encourage our employees to share with us any ideas they have. If they want to raise money we will support that as we did last year with one of our employees, Pasty, who organised a run in support of of Ty Olwen, the Jac Lewis Foundation and Hopes Heart..

We also raise money regularly for Ty Olwen, the cancer hospice based at Morriston hospital, which is something close to many of our Swansea employees who have lost loved ones to cancer.

As part of our support for community initiatives, for the past three year, IPS Paint Supplies has been the main sponsor  of the Maesteg and District Rally Challenge which raises funds for the Wales Air Ambulance.   This is long-term commitment by the company in support of such a worthy cause.
